The Great Barrier Reef

I just spent three days and two nights on the Great Barrier Reef aboard a dive boat with 35 other passengers and six crew members on the Milln and Flynn reefs. I brought my camera and its underwater housing so I could take pictures and videos during the 8 hours and 45 minutes I spent underwater. 300 photos later, here is a sample of the things I saw. Enjoy.

DUDE.
That sea turtle looks pissed.
Is that an air ring?
Those little blue trees (crabs?) are my new favorite thing. I want one.
That camera was a great investment.
haha the turtle was eating some coral and then suddenly was right in my face, i just kept taking pictures and a few came out nice
yeah i’ve been working on my bubble rings, about 1/10 are really good and the rest are just bubbles
i don’t remember the name of those things, i thought they were nudibranches but that might be wrong
WOW. Awesome photos. I love the mug shots of that turtle. Looks like you’re having an amazing time down there dude.
thanks man, yeah i’m having a great time. just arrived in singapore now. that moment with the turtle was pretty fun
Totally cool pictures! Did you use your same camera for those pictures? – the same one that I have? except that yours is a little more advanced? – I need to learn how to scuba dive!
yeah it’s the same one i think i showed you and the family before i left. the housing unit costs as much as the camera though
Enjoying this trip via photos. I especially like the dive photos and that turtle…wow,he is just beautiful and looking so proud too, he reminds me of our turtles and tortoises, so full of personality! Thank you for keeping us posted on your adventure.
thanks! glad you can follow along with my adventures
Very jealous you got to spend some great time under the sea. My daughter, Taylor, was very concerned about the jelly fish getting you. See saw the movie Finding Nemo.
there are tons of jellies in this part of the ocean. on the beaches you can only swim in netted areas to keep the stinging jellies away… unfortunately that keeps everything else out too
they like shallow coastal areas so there weren’t many out by the reef. there’s a lot of tiny jellyfish floating around that sting a little bit when you brush by them. this was the biggest one i saw but i avoided contact.
