Gotta start somewhere…

I’ve spent many hours at this point figuring out how to create, maintain and update a website. I just finished the Itinerary page, and it looks good enough that I’m ready to “officially” start the blog.
The theme and style that you see here is probably the one that will stay. I’ll start updating somewhat regularly to document the planning process. At this point I’ve purchased flights up through landing in Istanbul (despite not having my visa for Egypt or Turkey).

Woot!
Yo matt, happy birthday!
Saw you’re headed to istanbul, i lived in istanbul for about six months a little over a year ago, its insane and great, now I wish I had gone and seen more of Turkey as a whole, though I think you could spend a year and still not see all of Istanbul.
Just for the record, unless it’s changed in the last year you won’t need a visa for Turkey in advance, just show up on your flight and pay something like 20 euros for a visa that is worth 6 months there.
I used to know for Egypt but I blanked…. Would be pretty gnarly timing right now man!!
If you’re headed to Israel at all, you have to have a return ticket worked out before you can pass through, ie they have to know when you are leaving.
all the best

Thanks man! I’ll definitely contact you in the future about Istanbul, I’m pretty excited about going there.
